How to stop being afraid of rejection and learn to say “no” yourself

Prepare for rejection in advance
You don’t need to set yourself up for defeat, but at the same time, don’t create severely high expectations. If you are worried, try to expose yourself. What globally terrible and irreparable thing will happen? What will you lose? Sit down and itemize to the point of absurdity, even if it’s an alien takeover of the world. At some point, it won’t matter.

Think back to who or what planted the fear of failure in you
Chances are, some situation in the past has been the trigger that has caused you to constantly experience the agonizing fear. Don’t let it control you. You can, like Paul Atreides from Dune, recite an anti-fear litany or any other mantra. You are the master of your body, so don’t let destructive thoughts have power over you. Remember who criticized you and under what circumstances and expose him/her: most often such critics are not seven feet tall or have any special talents.
