The experiment involved 15 animals with different levels of training. Some of them had previously been trained to detect diseases, mold or insects by smell.

During the test, the dogs were offered samples of various liquids and were asked to determine whether they contained eucalyptus secondary distillate. By gradually reducing the concentration of the latter, the scientists found that the dogs successfully detected the presence of eucalyptus in the range of 1-10 molecules per 1 ml of liquid.
